More than 100 members of the Rice community gathered at Brockman Hall for Opera Sept. 15 to welcome a slate of the university’s newest leadership team members: Stephen Bayer, vice president for development and alumni relations; Melinda Spaulding Chevalier, vice president for public affairs; and Tommy McClelland, vice president and director of athletics. President Reginald DesRoches and his wife, Paula, hosted the event, where he gave brief remarks about the value and impact these new leaders will bring to the university and its mission.
The event also served as an opportunity for the three new members to greet the crowd and express their enthusiasm and vision for their respective roles.
