The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas has appointed Peter Rodriguez, dean of Rice's Jones Graduate School of Business, to its Houston Branch board of directors for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1. Rodriguez will provide input on regional economic conditions as part of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy functions.
Rice University chemist Julian West has won a Thieme Chemistry Journals Award for early career synthetic chemists chosen by the editorial boards of Synthesis, Synlett and Synfacts. West, an assistant professor of chemistry who joined Rice in 2019 as a Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas scholar, develops bioactive molecules through creative advances in catalysis, with a particular focus on precursor molecules that will ease the design and manufacture of anti-cancer and other drugs.
