Rice Rec Center reopens with strict safety measures in place

The Rec Center has reopened with strict safety protocols in place.

After a spring and summer of online classes and activities, the Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center is once again open for in-person workouts.

As of Aug. 3, the Rec Center began allowing small groups of students, faculty and staff to sign up for hourlong slots in either the cardio room, weight room or lap pool, although the locker rooms and other facilities remain closed.

The Rec Center has reopened with strict safety protocols in place.

Reservations must be made in advance online, and masks are required — as is wiping down your equipment thoroughly when finished. Employees are also carefully cleaning the equipment between appointments; other pieces remain covered by white cloths to further enforce social distancing.
