An atomistic image produced through the cemff database shows the possible structure of calcium silicate hydrate, the main product of Portland Cement, in reaction with water. The image shows calcium (turquoise), silicon (dark blue), silicate tetrahedra (blue pyramids), oxygen (red), water (the red and white boomerang-shaped sticks) and hydroxyl molecules (purple and white sticks). Cemff is intended to help researchers and manufacturers fine-tune custom cement for concrete, the most-used construction material in the world and a significant source of atmospheric carbon dioxide.
