Showing support for the Class of 2020

Alumni step up with encouraging messages for Rice seniors

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Rice alumni are doing their part to support the Class of 2020 as students close out their time at the university remotely.

The Association of Rice Alumni (ARA) has created an online forum — utilizing the Kudoboard platform — for alums to share a note of encouragement, piece of advice, (virtual) pat on the back or warm welcome into the Rice Alumni family. The goal is to gather 2,020 messages by May 1.

More than 200 messages have been received already, according to ARA President Frank Jones ’63.

“As the Class of 2020 works through the challenges of their final semester, we wanted students to know that Rice alumni worldwide are here to lift them up and to be a source of inspiration,” Jones said. “We are a tight-knit community, and we’re proud to welcome them as our newest alumni.”
