Rankings roundup: Rice shines nationally and internationally

Rice sits near the top of university rankings recently released by Times Higher Education (THE), the Princeton Review and a number of other outlets that rate higher education institutions.

-THE’s World University Rankings placed Rice among the top 100 most international universities, reflecting goals outlined in President David Leebron’s Vision for the Second Century, Second Decade (V2C2). Using international student, staff and co-authorship scores and international reputation metrics, the London-based publication ranked Rice No. 64.

-Rice was No. 14 on the Princeton Review’s 2020 Best Value Colleges. It earned top marks for financial aid (No. 10) and value for students with no demonstrated need for financial aid (No. 19). The rankings are based on return-on-investment ratings, data collected from schools by institutional and student surveys, and PayScale.com alumni career and salary statistics.

-Niche ranked Rice No. 10 on its 2020 Best Colleges in America list. The rankings are based on an analysis of academic, admissions, financial and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with millions of reviews from students and alumni.

A number of academic disciplines at Rice are ranked among Niche’s top 10: kinesiology (No. 1), sport management (No. 1), architecture (No. 2), engineering (No. 4), psychology (No. 5), art (No. 5), anthropology and sociology (No. 7), music (No. 8), public policy (No. 9), chemistry (No. 9) and biology (No. 10). Niche also ranks Rice No. 5 on its Best Value list and No. 10 on its Best Professors list.

“It was always so important for me to go to school that was diverse and small enough to feel like I mattered, but also large and prestigious enough to provide me with the opportunities to enter the work force successfully,” said one student in a Niche review. “Rice’s mission is to see growth and impact, and administration and staff provide everything you need for that to take place.”
