Rubinsky, who is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining the infrastructure and day-to-day administrative operations of the Development and Alumni Relations division, recently oversaw the implementation of a new campuswide constituent relationship management (CRM) system, OwlConnect.

“I am so pleased that Karen has received this honor and am grateful for her many contributions,” said Kathi Dantley Warren, vice president for Development and Alumni Relations. “With her incredible work ethic and her dedication to the success of our division and that of Rice, she is an exemplary colleague.”

A letter nominating Rubinsky for the award detailed her many accomplishments.

“It is not an overstatement to declare that the Rice CRM system would not have been possible without Karen’s unwavering, sweating-the-small-stuff approach to managing both the business-side affairs of this project and the immense, detailed work involved in data cleanup and conversion,” read the letter.

OwlConnect enables a much greater degree of collaboration for campus departments and divisions in terms of alumni and donor management and engagement, the letter stated.

“This project is merely one example of the magnitude of Karen’s impact on Rice throughout her tenure. It is also a clear example of her direct impact on the V2C2,” the letter read. “Through her commitment and work, she is able to more effectively bridge the gap between Rice alumni, parents, and faculty and staff across the world.”

Rubinsky also oversees the division’s accounting, budget preparation and tracking, financial reporting, processing of personnel actions and general office management. She came to Rice in 1993 after serving as a vice president in the finance division of First City Bancorporation of Texas.
