D2K lecture series draws award-winning statistician Hadley Wickham

Award-winning statistician Hadley Wickham gave the Center for Transforming Data to Knowledge (D2K Lab) 2019 Distinguished Lecture to students, faculty and staff Nov. 22 at Duncan Hall. Wickham, the chief scientist of RStudio, a Houstonian and adjunct professor of statistics at Rice, is the winner of the 2019 COPSS Presidents’ Award, which is sometimes referred to as the “Nobel Prize of statistics.” Rice’s D2K Lab provides students with immersive, experiential learning opportunities in data science while enhancing data-intensive research at Rice and building partnerships with companies, institutions and community organizations.
