Crepes and classical music in the courtyard welcome Humanities students

A welcome reception was held Sep. 5 in the courtyard of the Humanities building, where Dean Kathleen Canning greeted new and returning students to the School of Humanities.
A welcome reception was held Sep. 5 in the courtyard of the Humanities building, where Dean Kathleen Canning greeted new and returning students to the School of Humanities. Canning was joined by newly appointed associate deans Alexander X. Byrd, associate professor of history who will oversee undergraduate programs and special projects, and Jeffrey Kripal, the J. Newton Rayzor Professor of Religion who will oversee faculty and graduate studies.

Between bites of crepes and macarons, students learned about the School of Humanities various offerings and took home door prizes including gift cards for coffee and brand-new books, while music from a trio of talented Shepherd School students underscored the evening. (Photo by Katharine Shilcutt)
