27 political science students inducted into honor society

On March 26, Rice’s Department of Political Science inducted 27 students into Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society. The event also recognized graduating seniors and included remarks from John Ambler, an emeritus professor of political science who has taught Introduction to Comparative Politics and Comparative Public Policy each year since he retired in 2003.

Pi Sigma Alpha is the only recognized college honor society in political science and one of the largest members of the Association of College Honor Societies. To be eligible for membership, students must have at least 60 credit hours and an overall GPA of at least 3.75. In addition, students must have at least 10 credit hours in political science with at least one upper-level course. Since its founding in 2008, Rice’s Alpha Epsilon Pi chapter has had more than 150 members.

The chapter is advised by Leslie Schwindt-Bayer, the Albert Thomas Associate Professor of Political Science, and is also supported by a faculty advisory committee.
