Climbing the walls at Rec Center Welcome Back Bash

A giant rock-climbing wall erected outside Rice’s Barbara and David Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center was the first indication that something special was going on at the gym Aug. 29. A Welcome Back Bash invited students, staff and faculty to learn more about the Rec Center’s offerings, including intramural team sports and outdoor adventure trips. Representatives from student clubs such as the Rice Ballroom Team mingled with guests playing cornhole, giant Jenga and giant checkers games set out by the Rec Center staff, while other guests headed upstairs to preview this semester’s lineup of Mind and Body classes.
