Violinist Michael Ferri, who recently received a Bachelor of Music degree from Rice, won fourth prize in the 2018 Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Competition June 2 at the Shepherd School of Music’s Stude Concert Hall. The prestigious international competition, named in honor of Houston Symphony co-founder Ima Hogg, is open to musicians between the ages of 16 and 26 who play standard orchestral instruments or piano. Ferri studied violin performance with Paul Kantor, the Sallie Shepherd Perkins Professor of Violin.
