Natasha Bowdoin, an assistant professor in the Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts, was selected as one of five local finalists for a grant through Artadia, a national nonprofit that supports visual artists with unrestricted, merit-based awards. The five finalists will receive studio visits with second-round jurors, who will ultimately select two awardees to receive $10,000 grants.

LaTreshia Hamilton, a second-year Master of Global Affairs student, was awarded the 2018-2019 Kenneth H. Ashworth Fellowship by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The fellowship recognizes students enrolled in a graduate program leading to a career in public affairs, public service or public administration.

The Rice Thresher‘s “Housing Guide 2017” won second place in the Pinnacle Awards for “Best Ad Supplement/Special Section” from the College Media Association, which honors the best individual work from college media.

M. Rafael Salaberry, professor of Spanish and Portuguese and Latin American studies, made a presentation titled “Developing Research Hypotheses Across Theoretical Frameworks” as a plenary speaker at the Conference Tense, Aspect and Modality in L2 April 21 at Leiden University in the Netherlands.
