Ecuador’s energy sector is topic at Rice’s Baker Institute Oct. 6

HOUSTON – (Oct. 4, 2017) – Carlos Perez, Ecuador’s minister of hydrocarbons, will discuss the country’s key objectives and goals for increasing investments in its energy sector at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy Oct. 6.

Hosted by the Baker Institute’s Latin America Initiative and Center for Energy Studies, the event is free and open to the public but registration is required.

Who: Carlos Perez, who was appointed Ecuador’s minister of hydrocarbons in May. He is a former Halliburton executive.

What: An event titled “A Conversation With Ecuador’s Minister of Hydrocarbons: The Outlook for the Country’s Oil Sector.”

When: Friday, Oct. 6, 8:30-9:30 a.m. (Breakfast will be served at 8.)

Where: Rice University, Baker Hall, Kelly International Conference Facility, 6100 Main St.

Ecuador is one of the leading oil producers in Latin America and has the fourth-largest proven oil reserves in the region. Its hydrocarbons industry and government have been impacted by the global fall in energy prices. In an effort to promote the country’s energy agenda, newly elected President Lenin Moreno named Perez as minister of hydrocarbons.
