Rice’s Health, Humanism and Society Scholars program showcases research projects

Students in the School of Humanities and School of Social Sciences’ joint Health, Humanism and Society Scholars program shared the research projects they’ve worked on this academic year by giving oral and poster presentations at a reception held at the Humanities Building April 17. Dean of Humanities Nicolas Shumway (top, second from right) and Dean of Social Sciences Antonio Merlo (top, fourth from right) visited with students. A collaboration between Rice and Baylor College of Medicine, the Health, Humanism and Society Scholars program provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to assist in research at various institutions within the Texas Medical Center, which gives them valuable experience in a variety of medical and public health settings, research institutes and centers, according to program organizers.
