Kaden Hazzard, an assistant professor of physics and astronomy, wrote about the experimental observation by groups at MIT and in Zurich of supersolid materials, “a state of matter that marries solid and liquid properties in spectacular fashion,” in the News and Views section of Nature published online March 1. Hazzard, who joined Rice in 2014, develops theories on many-body physics in ultracold systems. His group often applies these theories in collaboration with experimentalists who study atomic, molecular and optical physics condensed matter and quantum information.
