Rice United Way Campaign reaches 99 percent of goal

At the end of the seventh week of the Rice United Way Campaign’s eight-week effort, pledges and contributions are at $247,970 — 99 percent of the way to Rice’s $250,000 goal.

Three campus divisions have hit 100 percent participation: the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Investments and Public Affairs. Facilities Engineering and Planning has the most overall donors — 114. With $25,928, the School of Social Sciences leads the campus in total dollars contributed.

All of the matching-gift funds from the offer by Rice Board of Trustees Chairman Bobby Tudor ’82 and his wife, Phoebe, have been claimed; this represents $25,000 in new and increased contributions over last year.

Pledges may be made by automatic payroll deduction and spread over all of 2017’s paychecks, via Esther. To give by check or credit card, or to designate any pledge — including a payroll pledge — to the benefit of a specific United Way agency, geographic area or community program or priority, campus donors may use the pledge form available on the Rice United Way Campaign website, unitedway.rice.edu.
