Week of Wellness kicks off Oct. 17

Rice offering employees free health screenings, flu shots … and more!

1010_flu-bFaculty and staff are encouraged to participate in a series of “Week of Wellness” activities Oct. 17-21.

Featuring topics ranging from mental health to financial health, along with health screenings and flu shots, the Week of Wellness will showcase the many resources available to employees through Rice’s wellness partners, including HealthFitness.

Learn more about your health, with a health screening

Easy, confidential and free for all benefits-eligible faculty and staff, health screenings include blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, height, weight and health assessment.

Screenings are available Oct. 17, 19 and 20 by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, visit the Healthy Rice. Healthy Life website (click on “Screening” under the “To-Do List”) or call 877-916-5940 and select option 1.

Get the flu shot, not the flu

The four-strain flu shot is available for all benefits-eligible faculty, staff and Rice retirees at no charge. Non benefit-eligible faculty, staff, spouses and domestic partners can get the flu shot for $36 (check or money order payable to Rice University).

Flu shots will be offered from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 17 in Farnsworth Pavilion at Rice Memorial Center (RMC) and in the RMC’s Grand Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 19 and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20. Shots will also be available Nov. 1 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Rice University Police Station and Nov. 3 and 4 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. in Farnsworth Pavilion. No appointment is necessary for flu shots.
