New graduate student Owls on campus

Rice University President David Leebron and University Representative Y. Ping Sun welcomed Rice’s new graduate students to Rice Memorial Center’s Grand Hall Aug. 17 to sample one of the Lone Star State’s favorite foods, barbecue! The annual event usually takes place outside the Weiss House and was moved inside, due to inclement weather. Leebron and Sun host the annual event to get to know the newcomers to Rice. New graduate students also participated a variety of other activities that day, including various breakout sessions, student information panels, a campus scavenger hunt and the Graduate Student Association Activities Fair.
