Shepherd School students to perform at Kennedy Center

HOUSTON – (Feb. 15, 2016) – Eleven students representing Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music will perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., at 6 p.m. Feb. 20. The concert is part of The Conservatory Project, a Kennedy Center program showcasing the best young musical talent from the nation’s leading conservatories, colleges and universities.

The event will include a performance by The Möbius Brass Quintet, featuring Anthony Bellino on trumpet, Daniel Taubenheim on trumpet, Brian Mangrum on horn, Tanner Antonetti on trombone and Zachary Bridges on tuba. The concert will also feature performances by Natalie Lin on violin, David Mamedov on piano, Ryo Kaneko on piano, Mark Chien on violin, Sarah Bouse on piano and tenor vocalist Jack Swanson. The students will perform works of Schumann, Barber, Donizetti and Rice Professor of Composition and Theory Karim Al-Zand.

This is the 13th year that Shepherd School students have been invited to perform as part of the project; the Shepherd School is one of only eight schools initially chosen for the program when it launched in 2004.
