People, papers and presentations

Daniel Cohan, a Rice associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, is one of 16 people to earn an Excellence in Review Award from the American Chemical Society journal Environmental Science and Technology. Cohan is one of more than 5,000 reviewers who volunteer their time and expertise to ensure the quality of the journal’s papers, according to editor David Sedlak. The awards were created “to recognize the efforts of exceptional reviewers who somehow found time in their busy schedules to review multiple papers and share deep insights with us,” Sedlak wrote. “These are the people who went the extra distance to scrutinize results and find connections that might have been missed by the authors. They are the ones who turned a good manuscript into an excellent paper.”
