Rice to host Camp Kesem Week Oct. 25-31

HOUSTON – (Oct. 23, 2015) – Rice University’s chapter of Camp Kesem, an organization dedicated to helping children through and beyond their parent’s cancer by offering free summer camps, will host a week of activities Oct. 25-31 to raise awareness and funds to support their next camp in summer 2016. (“Kesem” is Hebrew for “magic.”)

The activities will include a bubble tea bar, an ice cream sandwich party, a spa day, a talent show, a pumpkin carving and a field day. A full list is available at www.facebook.com/RiceCampKesem.

Founded in 2013, Camp Kesem Rice is one of more than 50 student chapters in the national organization, the country’s only nonprofit dedicated to organizing free summer camps to provide emotional support, camaraderie and fun experiences for the often-overlooked population of children affected by a parent’s cancer. Camp Kesem provides a lifelong, peer-support network for these children, anchored in a network of summer camps led by passionate college student volunteers across the country.
