Driphus Jackson honored for good works

Rice quarterback Driphus Jackson is one of 22 student-athletes selected by the Allstate Insurance Company and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) for the 2015 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The team is comprised of athletes who have used their limited free time to perform inspirational acts of service.

Jackson was surprised with the trophy presentation Oct. 13 at the Nehemiah Center. He regularly volunteers at the center, a preschool that provides a learning environment free of gangs, drugs and violence for poverty-stricken youth. Jackson also mentors two local students, visits patients at Texas Children’s Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center and serves on the leadership team for Team Ziggy, a Rice football team initiative supporting of a young leukemia patient.
