Joseph Manca, the Nina J. Cullinan Professor of Art and Art History, has received the John Staub Award for Fine Arts from the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art’s Texas Chapter for his book “George Washington’s Eye: Landscape, Architecture and Design at Mount Vernon.” The award recognizes the promotion of excellence in classical and vernacular traditions. In 2014, Manca’s book received the Foundation for Landscape Studies’ John Brinckerhoff Jackson Book Prize.

Two books by Ewa Thompson, research professor of Slavic studies, were published in translation this month. A third edition of “Understanding Russia: The Holy Fool in Russian Culture” (1987) was published in Chinese in Beijing, and “Imperial Knowledge: Russian Literature and Colonialism” (2000) was published in Hungarian in Budapest.
