Jeffrey Jacot, an associate professor of bioengineering at Rice and director of the Pediatric Cardiac Bioengineering Laboratory at Texas Children’s Hospital, has been elected to the membership committee of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society.

Stephan Link, an associate professor of chemistry and a professor of electrical and computer engineering, won the Elsevier Lectureship Award and delivered a talk at the Photochemistry 2015 symposium at Osaka City University, Japan, in September. Link discussed plasmonics inspired by the adaptive coloration and patterning in cephalopods that sense their environments and respond.

José Onuchic, the Harry C. and Olga K. Wiess Chair of Physics and professor of physics and astronomy, of chemistry and biosciences and co-director of Rice’s Center for Theoretical Biological Physics, was a keynote speaker Aug. 27 at the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) 23rd Congress in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. Onuchic also received an IUBMB medal in honor of his outstanding contributions toward an integrated picture of a variety of model biochemical and biological systems.
