Lynda Crist, editor of Rice’s Jefferson Davis Papers Project, received the Jules and Frances Landry Award for The Papers of Jefferson Davis, Volume 14 (1880-1889). The award is presented by LSU Press annually to the author of the best manuscript submitted during the previous year in the field of Southern studies.

Undergraduate engineering design team Sith Putter placed in the top 10 among more than 300 teams that competed at the annual Texas Instruments Innovation Challenge July 27 in Dallas. The team designed a fully integrated, blade-style training putter with tactile and auditory real-time feedback about the backstroke, tempo and force of the putt and won the $2,000 prize for “Best Use of TI Wireless Technology.” Sith Putter team members include 2015 engineering alumni Zilong Liao, Xianbang Sun, Minyang Ma, Timothy Kuhnen and Kelsey Rightmer.
