Rice faculty, alums to explore the city’s high-tech future at Houston 2035

Where will Houston be in 20 years? What has to change? Take a unique look at the city’s future at Xconomy Houston 2035, a daylong conference May 21.

HoustonSeveral Rice faculty and alumni will be among the leaders from across Houston’s education, research, infrastructure, life science and energy sectors discussing the future of the city’s high-tech economy and its role as a hub for global innovation:

  • Provost George McLendon.
  • Richard Baraniuk, founder and director of Rice University-based OpenStax College.
  • Naomi Halas, director of Rice’s Lab for Nanophotonics & Quantum Institute.
  • Stephen Klineberg, founding director of Rice’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research.
  • Shion Deysarkar ’09, CEO and founder of Datafiniti.
  • Rives Taylor ’82, principal of Gensler.

The conference will be held at the Texas Medical Center Innovation Institute, 2450 Holcombe Blvd., Suite X.
