Uninsured rates plunge across Texas
The percentage of Texans without health insurance dropped 31 percent since enrollment began in the Affordable Care Act’s Health Insurance Marketplace, according to a new report released April 30 by Rice’s Baker Institute for Public Policy and the Episcopal Health Foundation. Elena Marks, scholar in health policy at the Baker Institute, and Vivian Ho, the James A. Baker III Institute Chair in Health Economics at the Baker Institute and professor of economics, are quoted.

Could a knee brace power an artificial heart?
Rice University students designed a method to charge a battery while walking. A modified knee brace produces energy that the researchers hope may someday be used to power artificial hearts.
