Andrews named new associate dean of degree programs at Jones School

George Andrews has been named associate dean of degree programs at the Jones Graduate School of Business. In this role, he will lead each of the MBA programs, the Career Management Center and the Office of Admissions. Andrews will report to the senior associate dean of degree programs and will be a member of the dean’s leadership team. He will join the dean’s suite Oct. 13.

GEORGE ANDREWS

Andrews served as associate dean for evening MBA and weekend MBA programs at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. At Booth, he led a series of innovative programmatic, student recruitment and development initiatives, increasing yield in the evening and weekend programs from 79 to 90 percent. Andrews improved the ratio of students selecting Booth over the programs’ primary competitor and also faculty and student satisfaction with his programs.

“I am so excited about the opportunity to join the great team of individuals at the Jones School,” Andrews said. “Whether it be the students, alumni, faculty or staff, everyone at the Jones School exhibits the same contagious and winning attitude. This, along with Rice’s commitment to create change that improves the quality of life, is an equation that resonates strongly with me.”

Andrews joined the University of Chicago seven years ago from the William E. Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester, where he was executive director of the executive development programs. He started his career at Procter & Gamble as a section manager and spent the next 16 years in increasingly senior roles at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and then Bausch & Lomb. Andrews earned his MBA from the William E. Simon School of Business and his Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M.

“George’s experience, skill set and approach are precisely what we were looking for in this position,” said Barbara Ostdiek, senior associate dean of degree programs. “He is a proven leader with an exceptionally strong record in building and delivering business education programs. For the Jones School, the timing is perfect for George to join the leadership team. I look forward to working closely with him as we strengthen and expand our program offerings.”
