Rice Owls head football coach David Bailiff held his annual T-shirt exchange Sept. 19 in front of William Marsh Rice’s statute in the middle of the university’s academic quadrangle.

Each year before the Owls’ first home game, Bailiff sets up shop in front of Willy’s statue and exchanges Rice students’ gear from other schools for a new Rice football T-shirt. As a bonus, he also serves up pizza.

The defending C-USA champion Owls lost 45-42 to Old Dominion on a last-second field goal. More than 17,000 fans attended the game, which coincided with Rice’s Families Weekend.
