The Institute of Biosciences and Bioengineering at Rice University held the second IBB Girls BioScience Initiative this summer.
More than 30 high school girls attended workshops, lectures and demonstrations, participated in laboratory research (including a Sciencepaloza challenge), went on field trips and received mentoring to broaden their knowledge of careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Fifteen girls returned from last year to mentor new students and will continue to attend the weeklong summer camp throughout their high school years.

Great stuff! Nice to see young teens showing interest in science and engineering. Hopefully next year will be just as successful!
