Rice expert available to discuss job market for graduating college students

HOUSTON – (April 24, 2014) – Nicole Van Den Heuvel, director of Rice University’s Center for Career Development, is available for news media interviews to discuss the job market outlook for 2014 college graduates.

The U.S. Department of Education estimates that more than 1.8 million bachelor’s degrees will be conferred nationally this spring. With so many college students finishing their postsecondary education, Van Den Heuvel can also talk about the next steps college graduates can take.

In 2011 (the most recently available data), Texas conferred 174,000 bachelor’s degrees.

Rice University will hold its 101st graduation ceremony May 17. Dr. Helene Gayle, president and CEO of the global poverty-fighting organization CARE USA, will be the commencement speaker.
