Co-founder of Reddit promotes ideas partnered with hard work at Rice

Reddit.com founder Alexis Ohanian visited Rice Feb. 26 as part of his national tour to present his new book, “Without Their Permission.”

Reddit, a contraction of “read it,” as in “I already read it,” is a source for what is new and popular on the Web where users submit content and decide, through voting, “what’s good and what’s junk.”

Ohanian explored the current potential for online entrepreneurship, advised students who have dreams of launching startups and offered tips for using the Internet to catapult grassroots campaigns. The lecture was sponsored by the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership.

About Brandon Martin

Greetings, I am a video producer at Rice University in the Office of Public Affairs. I became a Rice Owl in June 2011. Before that, I was at KPRC-TV in Houston as a special projects photojournalist for seven years, where I covered everything from hurricanes to sports. Southeast Texas has been my home my entire life. I am lucky to have a wonderful wife and two of the cutest girls I have ever seen. Go Owls!
