Virtuix CEO Jan Goetgeluk ’10 appeared on the ABC-TV reality show “Shark Tank” Dec. 6 to pitch the Omni, a virtual reality treadmill. Goetgeluk is a graduate of the Jones School’s MBA program. He discussed his “Shark Tank” experience on the Jones School’s website.

Ruth López Turley, associate professor of sociology, director of the Houston Education Research Consortium and associate director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research, was named to the board of directors of the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness (SREE), based in Washington, D.C. SREE works to advance and disseminate research on causal effects of education practices, interventions, programs and policies. Publications and activities sponsored by SREE bring into focus developments in research design, measurement, modeling and data analysis to advance education research.
