Expert on the history of literature and culture to speak at Chao Center Nov. 8

JEROME MCGANN

American textual scholar Jerome McGann will present “Title Page as Interface and Metadata, With an Example from Cooper” at 2 p.m. Nov. 8 as a guest speaker for Rice’s Chao Center for Asian Studies.

The public event is part of the Chao Center’s Ephemera Project and is co-sponsored by the Humanities Research Center and the Henry Luce Foundation. It will be in the Humanities Building, Room 117, and will include a Q-and-A session.

McGann is the John Stewart Bryan Professor of English at the University of Virginia. His work focuses on the history of literature and culture from the late 18th century to the present. His recent books include “The Invention Tree” (2013) and “Radiant Textuality” (2004).
