Former World Bank President Robert Zoellick to give keynote address

HOUSTON – (Oct. 7, 2013) – A panel of economists and monetary policy experts will discuss the ongoing impact and risks of the euro crisis in Europe and what it means globally and for the U.S. at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy Oct. 14. Hosted by the Baker Institute’s International Economics Program, the event is part of the institute’s 20th anniversary series.

Who:               Robert Zoellick, former World Bank president and U.S. trade representative; Andrea Montanino, executive director of the International Monetary Fund; George Tsetsekos, dean emeritus and George B. Francis Professor of Finance at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business; Mark Wynne, vice president, associate director of research and director of the Globalization and Monetary Policy Institute at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas; Michael Bordo, professor of economics and director of the Center for Monetary and Financial History at Rutgers University; Megan Greene, chief economist at Maverick Intelligence, U.K.; and Marvin Barth, senior investment manager and portfolio strategist at Covariance Capital Management.

What:             Conference on “The Euro Crisis Minefield: Mapping the Way Out.”

When:            Monday, Oct. 14, 1-7 p.m. Zoellick’s keynote will be at 1 p.m.
