Michael Wong, professor of chemical and bimolecular engineering and of chemistry, has received an honorary guest professorship at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, one of China’s premier centers for research into catalysis and surface science.

Rebellion Photonics, a Rice University startup company founded in 2010, has been named one of five semifinalists out of more than 500 companies in the 2013 Wall Street Journal Startup of the Year competition. Rebellion Photonics, which makes the first real-time camera for chemical imaging and detection, was launched from the lab of Tomasz Tkaczyk, a Rice associate professor in bioengineering, and founded by Rice alumni Robert Kester ’10 and Allison Lami Sawyer ’10.
