An excerpt of “Inuksuit” performed at Rice University

Rice University hosted the Houston premiere of “Inuksuit,” a monumental work for percussion by noted American composer John Luther Adams, Sept. 21. The outdoor performance used James Turrell’s “Twilight Epiphany” Skyspace as its anchor. It featured percussionists from Rice’s Shepherd School of Music, the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Sam Houston State University, the Colburn School and the local Houston area. Brandon Bell, a predoctoral candidate at the Shepherd School of Music, organized the performance with support from the Shepherd School and Rice Public Art.

About Brandon Martin

Greetings, I am a video producer at Rice University in the Office of Public Affairs. I became a Rice Owl in June 2011. Before that, I was at KPRC-TV in Houston as a special projects photojournalist for seven years, where I covered everything from hurricanes to sports. Southeast Texas has been my home my entire life. I am lucky to have a wonderful wife and two of the cutest girls I have ever seen. Go Owls!
