Reliving O-Week 2013

O-Week 2013 is history, but you can relive the memories with a simple click of your mouse.

This year Rice University’s Office of Public Affairs again collected students’ photos, videos and tweets from O-Week and shared the experience on rice.edu. Students were encouraged to include the hashtag #oweek2013 on their posts and tweets; a compilation of their communications can be found at rice.edu/oweek2013.

The O-Week materials have been archived using Storify, a website that creates and preserves stories using social media, photos and videos. So far, Storify has been viewed more than 2,500 times.

Storify is a great way to experience O-Week as the students did, said Kristin McCasland, Web and social media specialist for Rice Public Affairs.

“Storify allows those in the thick of it to tell the story of O-Week,” McCasland said. “You get a firsthand account of everything that’s going on. I’ve seen some great Instagram and Vine videos that you wouldn’t get any other way. In the future, the students will be able to access this year’s Storify and relive the experience.”

The O-Week 2013 Storify project is available at www.rice.edu/oweek2013.shtml. To access Rice News’ full coverage of O-Week 2013, visit https://news2.rice.edu/tag/oweek2013.
