Rice Faculty Women’s Club welcomes new members

The Rice Faculty Women’s Club welcomes new female faculty and professional staff and spouses of new male faculty and professional staff to join the organization this year.

This display at Cohen House pays tribute to the Rice Faculty Women's Club.

The club meets monthly at Cohen House for coffee and a presentation by a guest speaker, and also coordinates the activities of several special-interest groups, including book discussions, investments and bridge. The club also has groups that dine out for lunch and dinner on a regular basis. Founded in the 1920-21 academic year, the club is one of the oldest organizations on campus. It promotes friendship among women of Rice and encourages closer relationships among the academic departments.

Potential members are invited to the club’s first meeting of the new academic year, for which the speaker will be University of Houston President and Chancellor Renu Khator. The meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at Wiess House, 2 Sunset Blvd., and will be hosted by University Representative Y. Ping Sun. To attend, RSVP by Aug. 31 to Amy Caillavet at 713-348-4111 or dpevents@rice.edu.

Membership dues for the Rice Faculty Women’s Club are $25 per year. For more information, contact President Kit Clark at kitsela@aol.com or 713-521-3881.
