Pollster James Zogby to discuss Iran’s decline in Arab and Muslim public opinion at Rice’s Baker Institute May 30

HOUSTON – (May 22, 2013) – Arab American Institute President James Zogby will discuss the circumstances behind Iran’s “precipitous” decline in popularity among Arabs and Muslims May 30 at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.

Who: James Zogby, Zogby Research Services managing director and Arab American Institute founder and president.

Edward Djerejian, Baker Institute founding director. He will give introductory remarks.

What: “Looking at Iran: The Rise and Fall of Iran in Public Opinion” presentation.

When: Thursday, May 30, 6-7:30 p.m.

Where: Rice University, Baker Hall, Kelly International Conference Facility, 6100 Main St.

Zogby will present the findings of his new book, “Looking at Iran: The Rise and Fall of Iran in Public Opinion,” which examines how in just six years Iran has experienced a precipitous decline in popularity among Arabs and Muslims. Based on polling in 20 Arab and Muslim countries, Zogby’s study reveals how Iran’s involvement in Iraq, Bahrain and Syria played a role in alienating Arab public opinion. The study also shows how Iran’s nuclear program is now opposed by the public in almost every country surveyed and how the Obama administration’s lower profile in the Middle East has actually improved U.S. standing in Arab public opinion.

The Arab American Institute is a Washington, D.C.,-based organization that serves as the political and policy research arm of the Arab American community. Zogby Research Services conducts public opinion polling and analyzes data.

The event is free and open to the public. RSVPs are requested at http://bakerinstitute.org/events/looking-at-iran-the-rise-and-fall-of-iran-in-public-opinion/subscribe.
