Glasscock School to host Best Boards conference for nonprofits Feb. 28

The Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership (CPNL) at Rice University’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies will host the 12th annual Best Boards conference Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Best Boards ConferenceDesigned for trustees and staff of nonprofit organizations, the conference will include keynote remarks by Dorothy Ables, chief administrative officer of Spectra Energy Corp., and sessions focusing on the elements of successful board governance. Topics include strategic investment in human capital, finance, board assessment, marketing, strategic planning and crisis management, operations and fundraising.

“We want nonprofit organizations to operate from a position of strength, and that requires effective governance,” said Angela Seaworth, director of CPNL. “This conference helps board members understand their roles and the nuances of the nonprofit sector so they can more successfully lead their organizations.”
