The Jones Graduate School of Business will host the 10th annual Texas Investment Portfolio Symposium (TIPS) Feb. 16 from 7:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. in McNair Hall.
The event will include keynote remarks by Lee Partridge, chief investment officer of Salient, and Allison Thacker, Rice’s vice president for investments and treasurer and Rice Management Company’s chief investment officer and president. A panel discussion on Latin American investing and networking opportunities is also on the agenda.
The symposium is also home to the Southwestern U.S. and Central America/Caribbean regional finals for the Charted Financial Analyst Institute Research Challenge, a global competition for college investment fund managers, and the Portfolio Manager’s Finalist Competition, where college investment fund managers “pitch” their investment process. Senior investment industry professionals will judge the competitions. A full list of speakers and judges is available online at http://business.rice.edu/tips/#tabs-2.
Jill Foote, senior lecturer in finance and director of the Wright Fund, the Jones School’s MBA student-managed investment fund, encourages Rice students interested in the financial markets to attend.
“It’s a great opportunity for our students to interact with investment industry professionals and students from other universities with investment management curriculum,” she said. “This year’s event is expected to include more than 200 participants from 44 colleges in the Southwestern U.S., Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.”
Registration is $25 for Rice faculty, staff and students and $75 for Rice alumni. Rice faculty, staff and students can register online at http://business.rice.edu/tips, and alumni can register at https://ricemba.wufoo.com/forms/2013-tips-professionals.
