Youngsters at this year’s Sally Ride Festival at Rice University Oct. 27 got to take part in the thrill of a launch for science. A weather balloon carrying instruments to measure ozone levels aloft was sent on its way from the Engineering Quadrangle, where the festival in its seventh year took place. Readings will be recovered when the instrument, which has a tracker onboard, comes back to Earth.
To the ozone, and beyond!
