An official Texas Historical Commission marker for Rice University will be dedicated on campus at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23 — the date the first graduating class of the Rice Institute matriculated 100 years ago.
Rice faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend the dedication, which will take place just north of the Founder’s Court parking lot and east of Lovett Hall.
Rice President David Leebron will speak and Rice alumnus/Harris County Judge Ed Emmett ’71 will present a resolution at the ceremony.
The Rice Historical Society obtained the historical marker, which is being dedicated in commemoration of the university’s Centennial Celebration Oct. 10-14.
Maybe another marker is needed outside the Stadium for JFK’s We are going to the Moon speech.
