Winners of Rice Student Film Contest to be announced April 11

Rice Student Film ContestRed-carpet time is near for Rice students who entered the Rice Student Film Contest. Their creativity will be on the silver screen April 11 at the public screening and awards ceremony, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Rice Media Center.

Prizes of $500 will be awarded to the best film in each category; $500 for the best overall film in the category related to Rice and the upcoming Centennial Celebration; $500 for the film that best conveys the university’s expectations for students’ personal and academic development; and $500 for the People’s Choice Award, the most popular film as selected by the audience at the April 11 screening; and a $1,000 grand prize for the best overall film selected by the judges.

The contest is sponsored by Rice’s Office of Public Affairs, the Rice Media Center, Fondren Library’s Digital Media Center and the Dean of Undergraduates and made possible in part by a grant from the Mayor’s City Initiative Grant Program of the Houston Arts Alliance.
