Rice Gallery to preview Joel Shapiro’s ‘New Installation’ Jan. 26

Rice Gallery is offering a news media preview of its upcoming exhibition, Joel Shapiro’s “New Installation,” Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. Shapiro will be on hand to give a brief talk about his work and answer questions.

Who/what: Sculptor Joel Shapiro will speak to reporters about “New Installation.”

When: 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26.

In a gravity-defying array of color and form, Shapiro will suspend wooden planks that have been vibrantly painted with supersaturated pigment from the gallery’s 16-foot ceiling.
