World Bank economist to discuss multipolar global economy at Nov. 3 Baker Institute lecture

Economist Mansoor Dailami will speak on projected changes on the global economic stage at a Nov. 3 lecture at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.

What: Lecture on “The Coming Multipolar World Economy: Are We Prepared?”

When: 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3.

Where: Rice University, Baker Hall’s Kelly International Conference Facility, 6100 Main St.

Dailami is responsible for the monitoring and analysis of emerging global economic and financial trends that affect developing countries’ growth and investment prospects. He also manages the research and development of the World Bank’s flagship project, “Global Development Horizons,” which explores how the fast rise of emerging economies is transforming global investment and financial landscapes. A well-known expert on infrastructure finance, macroeconomic policy reform in emerging economies and emerging market finance, he has advised governments and published extensively. Since joining the World Bank in 1986, Dailami has led major country lending operations and provided technical assistance for capacity building and policy reform in many of the bank’s client countries.

Prior to joining the World Bank, Dailami worked at the United Nations Secretariat in New York, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and New York University. He holds a doctorate in economics from Harvard University, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in economics from the London School of Economics.
