Engineering Houston’s Future topic of RCEL conference

The Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL) will hold a conference titled Engineering Houston’s Future at Duncan Hall’s McMurtry Auditorium Nov. 11 and 12.

The conference is free and open to the Rice community and the public, but registration is required.

Panel discussions with a variety of representatives from Rice and the political, municipal and energy communities will cover challenges in energy, education and entrepreneurship.

Keynotes on energy, education and entrepreneurship will be given, respectively, by Dick Williams, president of Shell WindEnergy; Andrea Hodge, director of educational entrepreneurship at Rice; and Walter Ulrich, president of the Houston Technology Center.

The conference runs from 3 to 6 p.m. Nov. 11 and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 12, with a break for lunch.

RCEL was formed to help students develop the foresight to identify and tackle the world’s pressing problems using their technical abilities, creativity and passions.
