The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas honored all CPRIT award recipients in the Houston area since June 2010 with a ceremonial check presentation today at Rice’s BioScience Research Collaborative. Rice University was given a check for more than $14 million for cancer research awards that CPRIT granted to Daniel Carson, dean of the Wiess School of Natural Sciences, the Schlumberger Chair of Advanced Studies and Research and professor of biochemistry and cell biology; John McDevitt, the Brown-Wiess Professor in Bioengineering and Chemistry; José Onuchic, the Harry C. and Olga K. Wiess Chair of Physics and professor of physics and astronomy; and Herbert Levine, who will join the Rice faculty in 2012 as the Hasselmann Professor of Bioengineering.
